Moxibustion is the application of heat on the body and acupuncture points, by burning the dried herb moxa/Artemisia Vulgaris, commonly known as Mugwort.

The application of moxa ignites your health by stimulating the flow of qi and strengthening the blood. It also warms your body and fortifies your energy.

Moxa can be applied directly on the skin, or indirectly by using a moxa stick, a moxa box, or a variety of other tools.

Company name's wellness center specializes in Moxibustion for curing various human ailments.

Moxibustion (MOXA), made up of special herbs, comes in several forms., Sometimes the herbs are compressed into a long stick like a cigar, or into tiny sticks which can stick onto the body or they can be loose like a cotton ball.

The long stick is lit and is gradually moved above the particular area needing treatment. The loose form can be rolled into a small cone shape, which can be placed onto the body with a wax-type substance, or can be rolled into a ball and put onto an acupuncture needle that’s been inserted in the skin. The small, tiny stick is placed directly on the body.

Moxibustion is used on people who have a cold, or stagnant condition. The burning of moxa is believed to expel cold, and warm the meridians, which leads to smoother flow of blood and qi.

In Western medicine, moxibustion has successfully been used to turn breech babies into a normal head-down position prior to childbirth. A landmark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1998 found that up to 75% of women suffering from breech presentations before childbirth, had fetuses that rotated to the normal position after receiving moxibustion at an acupuncture point on the Bladder meridian.

Other studies have shown that moxibustion not only increases the movement of the fetus in pregnant women, but may also reduce the symptoms of menstrual cramps when used in conjunction with traditional acupuncture.

It is also used to move local stagnation caused by sprain, strain and injury, thereby decreasing both acute and chronic pain. Finally, Moxa has a dynamic effect on blood, and plays a major role when treating issues related to women’s health.

Our wellness center is a speciality Acupuncture and Moxibustion clinic, drawing on advanced moxa techniques to complement each Acupuncture treatment, and optimize clinical outcomes for all conditions.
