LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
These ministers assist the Clergy to administer the Body and Blood of the Lord at Mass where needed. This ministry may also extend to taking Holy Communion to the sick, the housebound and the dying within the Parish and also to exposing the Holy Eucharist for adoration. If you are unable to come to Mass due to illness, please do contact the Parish Priest who will be happy to discuss the possibility of Communion at home. If a member of your family is seriously ill, do call the Parish Priest immediately.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD
These ministers proclaim the scriptures within the Liturgy of the Church. The Second Vatican Council teaches that when the Sacred Scriptures are proclaimed, it is Christ who speaks to us. The preparation of men, women and children for this ministry, is taken very seriously within the Parish as this is one of the primary modes of Christ's presence within the Mass.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Children are most welcome to participate in the Children's Liturgy of the Word at Sunday Mass, rejoicing in the presence of Christ among them in the proclamation of Sacred Scripture. This Liturgy echoes the Liturgy of the Sunday assembly, following the Lectionary of the Church with suitable catechesis for younger children. Presiders at the Children's Liturgy of the Word are given ministerial training prior to exercising this ministry of leading children in liturgical prayer.

MINISTERS OF MUSIC
Music is the servant of the Sacred Liturgy. Saint Augustine said that he who sings prays twice. Through the medium of sacred music we actively participate in the process of the self-offering of Christ to the Father. We are fortunate in the Parish to have gifted musicians and cantors who assist us to raise our voices in song to the Lord. If you enjoy singing or play an instrument, then do join us!

MINISTERS OF THE LITURGICAL ENVIRONMENT
This ministry assists in the preparation of the Church building for the celebration of the Liturgy of the Church. Sacristans prepare the altar for the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy. Flower arrangers assist in the preparation of the Liturgical space according to the Season. Cleaners and launderers ensure that the House of God / the House of God's People always maintains the necessary dignity for our celebrations.

MINISTRY OF WELCOME
This ministry ensures a warm welcome to all who come to the community on a Sunday or Holyday. The ministry begins at the door of the Parish Church and continues through the sacred liturgy for those who are unfamiliar with Catholic worship. The ministry continues after the Liturgy on Sundays in serving refreshments and extending fellowship to all who would care to take up the invitation to join us.
